Madison Bus iPhone App (In Progress)

Description

Kari is collaborating with a developer to transform the API developed by Greg Tracy into a usable iPhone app. Currently, the information is being sent via SMS to those who query the database.

These are the original rough sketches for the project. We are still tweaking the interface to make it as simple and user-friendly as possible.

  1. The home screen gives the user three input options. They can enter their desired route number, and/or their desired bus stop, or, get a listing based on their current location.
  2. When they hit "update," they will see a list of the next bus arrival times based on the real-time GPS location of the bus. The arrival time is clearly shown by the number of minutes displayed on the right of the screen. When the bus arrives at the next stop, the bus icon on the screen literally appears to arrive on the next stop listed on your screen as the data is updates.
  3. More features (such as adding "favorites" and possibly eliminating the need for a manual data refresh) will be added after we launch the initial app and test the app over time.

User Interface Design

Kari is currently collaborating with a developer to create an easy way for Madisonians to know—in real-time—when and where they can catch their next bus. Currently, there's no app for that.
