Blazon.ly Identity, Icons + Website

Description

This project was produced as part of Startup Weekend—an intense workshop that brings together entrepreneurs from various backgrounds to launch a new business, produce a website or application, and present the idea to a panel of judges at the end of the 54-hour weekend. As it turned out, there were only 24 hours available to work on the design and concept for this entire project.

Blazon.ly is an app that enables web developers to create a  modern day “coat of arms” to depict their alma mater and their preferred coding languages in a hierarchical format. They do this by selecting their school colors and the icons for each of six coding languages on a shield of their choosing. Once the personal coat of arms is created in the app, it’s automatically tweeted on the Blazon.ly Twitter account, and then updated in the center of the Blazon.ly home page for all to see.

The concept behind the app was to provide individuals with the opportunity to create a unique, personalized logo that could be used to identify their skill sets and basic bio, which they could use to network both on- and offline. The main use would be as an identifying mark on nametags at conferences so individuals could seek out those who had the skills they were looking to hire.

Logo, iPhone app icons and website design

This project was part of Startup Weekend 2012. Kari met up with a team that had 54 hours to come up with a business idea, validate it with market research, create an identity and a working website or app to present to a group of judges and entrepreneurs. All of the design—logo, icons and website layout was completed in 24 hours.
