Kari Kay

Kari founded Kari K Design to provide beautiful, intelligent design to small businesses.
After graduating from Madison College's rigorous graphic design program in 2005, she quickly advanced from junior designer, to lead designer, art director and project manager at two different companies before deciding to start her own company in 2010. Throughout her first five years as a professional designer, she traveled and designed for small businesses and non-profit organizations in Wisconsin, Hawai'i, California and England. Through working with these groups, she discovered her growing interest in business and creating systems to improve their workflow and communication. Her specialty became integrating her skills in photography and illustration with elegant design. She develops dynamic, tactile brands that audiences love, and companies love to call their own.

Kari is always working to expand her skillset and her network in order to serve a world-wide audience. She places a high value on progress and functional, relational design and loves any opportunity to bring a humorous twist to the mundane. She spent two years serving as the Creative Connect Chair for her local chapter of AIGA, the nation's professional association for graphic designers, where she helps to recruit members and organize educational and social events for creative professionals.

Working with Kari K Design

I love my job! It gives me the opportunity to meet people like you who are looking for ways to improve something about your business. Maybe you need more clients, a better way of explaining a new product you're launching, or a fresh image to become more relevant in your space. Whatever has brought you to my site, I am confident that within minutes of listening to you describe your business dilemma I will be able to offer a variety of ways to approach your problem and start seeing improvements. Maybe you can't quite pinpoint what needs to be improved to get to the next level—I can help you clarify that as well.

After meeting with you and seeing the materials you've already been working with, I will do some research, crunch some numbers and see where we can start making some big wins for your company. Design always begins with analyzing the roots of a problem, and finding the most effective way of addressing it. In finding a good design solution for you, we will consider your budget, your timeline, your staff, your history, your audience, your industry and your plans for the future. Sometimes you need design as a short-term solution while we work to support your long-term needs. We will look at that as well.

Some have called me "the most pragmatic artist they've ever met." I always want to look at practical ways to support your communication needs without limiting the power of imagination and creativity.

Sometimes beginning with a small project is the easiest way for us to get comfortable working together before we commit to a larger or longer-term project. It's in everyone's best interest  to start off the relationship being comfortable with the design process and confident that I am the the best choice for meeting your business needs.

Who collaborates with Kari K Design?

Since 2003, I have been studying and practicing design and networking with professionals and specialists in health and wellness, tech, education, design and other industries. Throughout my eight years of professional design experience, I've established working relationships with local printers, photographers, videographers, web and app developers and business strategists.

I actively seek out relationships with people who have a great sense of humor and a passion for people, progress and quality products. If your project needs an additional skillset that I don't offer directly, I can hire a sub-contractor or assemble a team to accomplish the work together.
